A Nigerian Air Force C-130 military aircraft model was detained by Burkina Faso authorities after it was reported that it allegedly breached the Burkina Faso’s airspace.
The incident, which took place on Monday in Bobo-Dioulaso was reported by the Agence d’ Information du Burkina.
The aircraft was said to have convey (2) crew members and (9) passengers on board who were all military personnels.
The Burkina authorities stated that investigations confirmed that the aircraft lacked authorization to fly through the airspace.
The regional organization denounced the act as an infringement on national sovereignty and has warned that its anti-craft units had been placed on maximum alert and has been authorized to take strict discipline on any aircraft that violates the confederate space.
On Tuesday, in Abuja, The Spokes Person for Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, said officials were still gathering details as regards the incident.
