Man of the Competition
This gong went to Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong whose leadership qualities were a key driver of the Super Eagles.
He wore the captain’s armband as skipper Ahmed Musa was always on the bench.
After scoring three goals, including scoring in the final against Ivory Coast, Troost Ekong, interestingly, finished the tournament with more goals than striker Victor Osimhen
Golden Boot winner
Emilio Nsue,The Equatorial Guinea skipper scored five goals in four matches to finish as the tournament’s top goal-scorer.
He was the only player to grab a hat-trick in this Afcon edition after scoring three in the 4-2 victory over Guinea-Bissau.
Golden Boot runners-up
Angola forward Gelson Dala won the Silver Boot after scoring four goals at Afcon
Egypt attacker Mostafa Mohamed was named as the Bronze Boot winner after also grabbing four goals.
Best goalkeeper
Apart from saving a total of six penalties in two shootouts during the knockouts, Williams was outstanding throughout the tournament.
The Bafana skipper also made some crucial saves in open play as he also displayed some quality leadership skills.
Fair play team
Bronze medalists Bafana Bafana emerged as the most disciplined team at the tournament.
This caps off a fine outing for South Africa who arrived in Ivory Coast with a few giving them a chance to get out of their group.
Emerse Fae
The Elephants coach wrote arguably the most captivating story of this Afcon tournament.
Taking over from Jean-Louis Gasset who was sacked at the end of the group campaign, Fae was only in charge of four games.
He led Ivory Coast’s revival and those four games included eliminating Senegal who were then defending champions.
Best Young Player
Simon Adingra, the 22-year-old Brighton and Hove Albion forward, had a huge influence in the Afcon final by providing two assists.
Certainly, a player to watch out for.
