Notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji has denounced two former northern governor of heightening insecurity in the northern part of the country.
He made a viral video yesterday, accusing the past political leadership in Zamfara and Sokoto state of promoting insecurities and calling for their investigation and arrest. He alleged that the leaders armed local vigilante’s group known as the ‘Yan Banga’, which he claimed targeted Fulani communities which has led to the calamities in the region.
The kidnap syndicate aopenly confirmed participating in series of peace negotiations with the Zamfara State government during the administration of a former governor of the state, Bello Muhammed Matawalle, but vehemently refused claims made by Musa Kamarawa, a former peace mediator appointed by the Zamfara and Sokoto government to facilitate non-kinetic engagement with armed groups in the north-west.
Musa Kamarawa had alleged in a video that the Matawalle led- administration held peace meetings with bandits at the Government house at Gusau, which included Turji, during which money and vehicles were distributed and specifically claimed that #30 million naira was given to Turji as part of the peace negotiation process. In reaction to this, Turji acknowleged in a video that the peace talks did occur, but he never received any money or vehicle on behalf of any Fulani leader. “By Allah, since i was born, I have never possessed even five million naira. We were never given the #30million mentioned.”
He further emphasized that the meetings were primarily held to de-escalate violence and restore peace in Zamfara state, insisting that he did not derive any financial benefit from the process and accused Kamarawa of betraying the trust built during the negotiation process, describing all his allegations as false despite Bello’s claim
